my name is Louise from New Zealand:)
I have been studying Astrology (Tropical) for years.
I have stumbled upon Sidereal Astrology recently &
Im stumped.
I have found that Sidereal has answered many questions Tropical could never do (I resisted doing readings due to these unanswered questions)
I have been reading thru your site and am so excited with the possibilities and am wondering if you could help me with a few questions I have re: transitioning:)
I am running Solarfire 4
Do I just use the Fagan wheel now instead of Tropical
to get my Sidereal Chart info? Is there any other changes I need to apply?
Do you suggest I retrain in a Sidereal course to help
with the transition and if so do you know of a good one?
I have found that discussing the Sidereal signs with friends and family has found much resistance and this will surely be a challenge (those who dont even really believe in Astrology are offended at being told they may be another sign !! lol)
Thank you for your site and any help you may be able to offer. Roll on the Truth:)

Hi Louise
Thanks for your interest in Sidereal astrology. Yes, in order to get sidereal time in Solarfire you click the "Fagan-Bradley" option. This setting can also can be used at astro.com to build charts on their website, but its harder to find, and they actually warn non-professionals not to use it!
Yes, there is tremendous resistance to Sidereal, it's as if you were trying to legalize pot. They know it's better, but they have been doing tropical for so long that all the books and all the hype make it impossible for them to turn back now.
It's surprising to see what a stake most astrologers have in the wrong system. However, it does divide astrologers into two camps, those who want to use a false premise, and stay focused on their navels, and those who are really looking at the stars and wondering what they influence they really have on us. Glad to hear you and I are on the second team.
I don't know of a sidereal course. I gave a workshop at my local astrology club but there was no interest. Actually, all you really need to know is to deduct 24 degrees from all tropical signs and use the same archetypes—but they'll make sense this time!
Sidereal uses the same meanings, the angles and the aspects are the same as in tropical, so really we just want astrologers to get the signs right.
Most astrologers want to stick to tropical so they don't look like fools for switching their signs. The funniest thing is to see how astrologers themselves disguise their true sign with a lot of work-arounds. They act just like their sidereal sign in the ways they deny it.
These are useful links that I know of:
and, of course, the Sidereal astrologer Nick Fiorenzo's excellent site
