Tiger Woods was obsessed with his sexual fantasies, which he had to keep hidden from the world, due to his ideas about conforming to conventional morals and values, at least on the surface.
Tiger Woods had a billion dollars, a trophy wife, Hollywood connections, an adoring public, an unprecedented sports career, so why wasn’t he satisfied? Because none of that really engaged him. He did all this for show to gratify his mother and father and his public audience. He himself was only emotionally free during the commission and emission of his elaborate sexual fantasies and he would risk everything to make them real.
Unlike us, Woods had the money to make those fantasies real. Who could he find to help to stage them, on a regular basis, discreetly, and on a moment’s notice? That accounts for his fondness for prostitutes, the only vision of women he knew. Since he has no idea what real women are really like, prostitutes provided him with the pictures he wanted. They validated his conviction that any women that would indulge in his most shameful fantasies would be a whore. He left the purity of womanhood to his trophy wife, Elin, the pristine Swedish blond that bore him children and appeared at publicity events.
All women are cardboard cutouts to Woods; he is fatally self-conscious and so emotionally self critical that a secret life is the best thing he’s got; it holds far less of a risk of being hurt than being exposed in public. Ironically, he suffers this fate exactly because of his total lack of understanding women.
With his heart and soul invested into this fantasy world, the for-show Tiger Woods is all we saw. The unshakable sportsman, family man, role model and number one celebrity in advertising dollars, became more of a charade while the real Tiger became more enmeshed with his sexual desires being fulfilled according to the pornographic scripts in his head.
What did these prostitutes have that regular women did not? Aside from convenience, they were able to gratify needs that a real woman could not: on-call group sex and unrelenting praise of his sexual prowess and power. Only paid professionals knew how to satisfy Woods. Not-for-pay sexual partners could not or would not provide the dramatic testimonials, sexual variations and the combination of partners that Woods wanted, at the drop of a text message. A prostitute would never ridicule him for his shortcomings, imagined or otherwise, or disturb his layers of self-deceptions about women.
Woods is fire and water; his Sidereal sign is Sagittarius, energetic, sports-minded, strong-willed, openly competitive, yet full of contradictions, basically an alienated soul. Woods would have no problem bluntly revealing others’ peccadilloes, but he is mortified if any of his secrets are revealed; he ran one of the most controlled media operations of any sports superstar. His money-making Pluto opposition Jupiter squared Saturn, success through hard work and sacrifice, also means he is not happy or content with money alone; Saturn threatens to take it away if he doesn’t follow the rules, if he screws up. His Jupiter trophy wife in the seventh house is going to cost him a lot of his money. The closest planet to the midheaven, in degrees, is the Moon; women can make or break his career. With Mars opposing Neptune/Moon and trine Pluto, his best friends and lovers can become his worst enemies in a heartbeat.
Woods’ father Earl had a stellum of four planets in Aquarius, and Saturn square Venus; he is perhaps the most emotionally unavailable man and father you could draw. Tiger may have looked up to Earl, but Earl was looking somewhere else, completely removed from his son as more of a puppet or an extension of Earl’s ambitions and dreams. Earl is rumored to have also cheated with numerous other women. A young Tiger would have turned to his mother for his emotional needs, instead, his Moon in Scorpio is enmeshed with the mother. A search of the internet did not reveal Woods’ mother, Kultida Punsawad’s birthsign, but she was quoted in the tabloids as being “hurt, angry and disappointed” at Tiger’s indiscretions, and what he did to his family. She may not have been all that understanding of the young Tiger, either and forced him to hide his wild imagination and starvation for emotional validation.
Buried emotions come out as intense, magnetic personality traits, and with Pluto in his first house, Woods would have radiated suppressed energy and emotional power. He is quoted as saying he was mentally the “toughest” golfer, and a Sagittarius with Pluto placed front and center is a powerful opponent . Pluto set the scene for sexual megalomania, but it is the Moon conjunct Neptune opposition Mars that sealed the deal. Eventually, his compulsive dream world of orgies with glamorous, sexually rapacious but emotionally disconnected, women and frequent and ever- more shame-producing sex fantasies eventually took over his life.
Without a clear picture of real women, (Moon conjunct Neptune) Woods came to believe in his heart and soul that he was entitled to this double existence. Neptune opposes his Mars, and with his wealth, he able to put the porno into action. His fantasies are acted out by Mars, in the 9th house, and in Sidereal Taurus implies a fearless and inexhaustible interest in physical sex, ANY kind of sex. This placement for Taurus men means an openness for the uncharted extremes in the physical realm of Eros, no holds barred. Taurus puts the physical above the mental, and even the high-minded Sun-Sagittarius Woods could not resist giving in to his most carnal and bestial urges.
It could be said that mutable signs are more comfortable with multiple lovers; in Woods’ case, the more the merrier, and the more secrets, the more exciting and involving the sex life. The fact that Woods kept his sexual affairs secret for many years, in spite of intense public scrutiny, is a tribute to his ability to control access to his private life and bury any sign of his sexual obsessions from bobbing to the surface. He was a master liar, as well as a master golfer.
Mars is trine Pluto which actually makes Woods a formidable sexual predator and a man who would measure his prowess in the number of sex acts and partners. He concealed his sexual urges by burying them; they are then released as sexual aggression. He wanted complete control of the prostitutes, they were at his beck and call. Although during the sex play, they may have turned the tables on him: his fantasies involved power; so he wanted to be a sex god to his women, but may have also wanted to explore bondage and acting out top sexual domination, with him as a bottom at times.
Why did Tiger ever get married in the first place, considering his predilection for fantasy hookers and kinky sex? He needed the stability and he craves normalcy; Saturn trine Venus, structure and conventionality and predictability in the relationship. In contrast to the quiet non-entity he plays on TV, Woods is a reckless sex addict, driven by forbidden desires and who regards women as play objects and interchangeable pornographic figurines. He cannot see them as human beings, and his wife is no different. With a Sidereal Pisces Jupiter in a watery seventh house, he would choose a foreign-born person for a wife, but only as a trophy wife. Woods’ relationships would be very illusory, and could melt away in a flash. He has no boundaries in marriage or the commitment to the wife. His Jupiter wants a wife only for show; his real needs and desires are met elsewhere. He feels no guilt whatsoever. He is just surprised that people see his activities as unethical and hurtful.
Charismatic, magnetic and intense but not sexy to women in his own mind, Woods feels he needs his money and power to attract and lay claim to the women he views as exciting and sexually alluring. He may feel like a combination of a nerd because of a Virgo ascendant and a bore, by virtue of a stick-in-the-mud Capricorn mercury, cloistered, along with his Sun, in the home region of the fourth house. He is not allowed to roam too far from the house and family. In fact, his home was the residence not only of his wife and his mother, but his mother in law as well. A ninth-house Mars must have severely restricted his freedom in his family life, and he was unable to show even a glimpse of the real Tiger, surrounded as he was in a household full of female paradigms.
The prostitutes in Woods’ life were malleable, and performed like trained seals according to his desires. The real women in Woods’ life were not slaves, they were powerful, mysterious and angry, like his mother; with his Moon in Scorpio this is how he experienced them. Mars, the moons depositor, actually opposes the moon, would make Woods’ very passive aggressive and stubborn. With his Mars in Taurus you might add an explosive temper which he would go to great lengths to conceal. He hid himself from women.
Tiger Woods is a tragic figure, really, although he has hurt his wife and disillusioned many golf fans and his erstwhile advertisers. He is as out-of-control of his deepest needs as he is inversely in control of his careful, studied and tight-lipped life style. His superior powers of concentration are what makes him a champion. Like other champions with feet of clay, his world came down in a resounding crash, and he is going to be most wounded by what he considers betrayal by his friends and supporters, and the utter shame of his sexual secrets being revealed to the public.
The fact that he is partly African American makes his fate similar to other black sports stars who were destroyed by a vicious media and a racist agenda, such as Jack Johnson, Michael Vick, or Muhammad Ali, to name a few. Does Woods deserve this type of acrimony for living his dreams? Our secrets are at stake in making sure Woods gets punished for getting caught with his sex life in the open. For as we know, in our farcical world of property and propriety, the penalty for sex is death.
